STEVEN MILNE + guests

milneSteven Milne wears many hats; musician, promoter, DJ, booker, you name it, he’s done it. Perhaps best-known as lead singer in respected indie-pop band The Little Kicks, he’s now branching out with some mind-blowingly good solo material.

When the Kicks’ finally released their long-awaited debut album ‘Boxing Clever’ in the summer of 2009 (and what a beautiful thing it is too, hardly a surprise to those who’ve seen them live over the years), Steven was also quietly working on projects both himself (2005’s ‘Folk Song EP’), and this, the result of weekly recording sessions with his friend Iain MacPherson. With Iain’s background in electronic music this special collaboration is full of the kind of gems which have already made ears twitch in anticipation around Scotland and far, far beyond…

SELECTED PRESS:
“…Steven is a naturally beautiful performer, with a talent and voice coming across so effortless and yet so graceful. Steven’s vocals carry themselves across the venue on a sparkling trail of mystical musicianship…tonight he puts himself in the spotlight and provides an excellent and charming performance.”
MUSIC NEWS REVIEW

“Steven Milne is the busiest man in Aberdeen; frontman of The Little Kicks, Barfly promoter, Adventures In Stereo DJ and founder of the weekly Dirty Hearts Club. Oh and he plays solo shows every other week it seems. Not that anyone is complaining as the audience packs down the front to hear what could be the cities best songwriter. Even stripped down to an acoustic guitar and Steven’s voice, songs sound powerful and like the hits they should be. The set comes to a close with a cover of New Order’s Temptation which works wonderfully acoustically.”
