“a beguiling sort of alt- folk haven” – Songlines
“Morrison is from the Outer Hebrides and his atmospheric songs are awash with the bleak beauty of the region. A remarkable slice of rural folk” – R2 Magazine
“perhaps the most austere piece of music Morrison has ever recorded – but also the most bleakly beautiful.” – The Herald
Iain Morrison is an award winning Musician/Songwriter from the Isle of Lewis.
He is acclaimed as one of Scotland’s most innovative composers and has succeeded in taking the musical tradition that he was brought up in and
crafting it into very much his own sound.
The inspiration for his 2015 album ‘Eas’, an album based on Piobaireachd, is in contrast to the ‘Indie’ influenced tracks of his new album ‘Amusement Arcade’. All of which demonstrates the creative diversity of his songwriting.
Eas’ was chosen as Album of the Year on Radio Scotland’s Roddy Hart Show and nominated for Scottish Album of the Year 2016 at the SAY Awards.
His new album ‘Amusement Arcade’ is released in May. Recorded & mixed on Mull at An Tobar studio by Gordon MacLean, and mastered by Stephen Marcussen (Warpaint, Tom Petty, REM)
Iain will be performing with his full band: Pete Harvey (cello), Gordon MacLean (bass), Joe Smillie (drums) and Lori Watson (fiddle).
